Decide that you want to sell.
There is nothing worse than having your real estate agent bring you an offer and you aren't sure if you really, really want to sell your home. The conversation inside your head goes something like this:
"Maybe I shouldn't sell. Do we really want to move? For this amount of money, maybe we should stay put. What about the deposit we put on that new home? Will the new buyers take care of our garden? If we don't move, I'll have to re-register the children for school. But I do want a new home with a pool. What if we don't like our new neighborhood?"
You get the picture. Besides worrying if the price and terms are favorable on the offer to purchase your home, you now add all of the above worries to your decision. Making the decision to sell your home is a big decision in your life.
Make the decision once. Make it easy on yourself. Once you decide to sell your home, sell. Then you'll be free to plan for your new home.
