Details That Will Make Your Home Appeal To Buyers

Look for dirty or worn light switch covers. Light switch covers are a magnet for fingerprints and if cracked or old and dingy, they are simple to replace.

Jiggle all the doorknobs in your home and tighten or replace any that are loose.

Check the ceiling fans. Make certain all the blades are clean and that none of them wobble dangerously, or start a dust storm. Check to see that the fan pulls are secure and functional.

Check for any cracked panes of glass and have them replaced immediately.

Look to see if your window sills are fading, or showing ware or rot. Paint or replace any that need attention. A ragged, weathered look doesn't help sell your home- even if in a historical district.

Add small air fresheners to the bottoms of trash containers; if they are in a small, confined area or tend to smell stuffy.

While your home is on the market, take any garbage with food scraps directly outside to trash cans. These can inadvertently attract bugs and ants. They also may leave a lingering unpleasant odor.

Check for any leaky faucets or toilets around your home. Many faucet problems can be easily fixed with a new washer.

Call a plumber for any major repairs needed in the bathrooms or kitchen. Constantly running toilets and dripping faucets are easily noticed.

Also don't forget to completely scrub away any water or rust stains once the problem has been fixed- even if the leak has been mended, the impression it can leave may not be.

Installing an over-sized mirror, especially in bathrooms or entryways, will increase the perceived size of an area. They can make a narrow, dark hallway appear more spacious and bright. A little creativity in mirror placement can make a tremendous difference in your living areas.
